OB Ball

Yesterday we went to the ball for my work where most of the doctors thanked the nursing staff for everything we do. They gave out some pretty nice prizes and Ian was really disappointed when we didn't win the 42in. flat screen tv. A few people from my floor won prizes. It was fun to see everyone and dance, just a little bit though. :)

The Perfect Latte

I think I have finally perfected my very own starbucks vanilla latte at home. It is quite a feat that took much experimenting. I thought I would share my personal recipe with you all in case you too desire the perfect latte without paying $4 a pop.

Utensils used: a milk frother and french press ( you can make the coffee in the coffeemaker too, it is just a bit stronger in the french press

Ingredients: 2Tbsp Vanilla Syrup, 1 rounded Tbsp french roast coffee (coarse ground for the french press), 4oz. water, 1 1/3 c. skim milk.

Directions: Brew the coffee (in a french press, pour hot water over coffee grounds, let sit 4min and filter. Meanwhile place vanilla syrup in the bottom of a tall mug. Microwave milk in a large measuring cup for 1min, 45 seconds. When coffee is finished, pour over vanilla syrup. Froth milk for 20 seconds. Pour milk into mug last, using a spoon to keep froth in the container and spoon on at the end.

It tastes exactly like a starbucks vanilla latte!!! Enjoy!

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines day everyone! We had an extra special valentine's.....we had a blizzard/ice storm so Ian's lessons were cancelled and I couldn't make it to work for meetings, so we stayed in, but towards the end of the day ventured to the bank to turn in our hard earned coins. We had enough to buy a new video ipod! So that was our valentines gift to each other. I also made Ian a book of pictures (like the book that he made to propose to me) from 2006. And I am patiently awaiting my gift until tomorrow night, due to the blizzard it was stuck at Ian's work. he told me it is in a drawer and I can probably wear it to the upcoming OB ball at my work! How exciting!!! :) I think everyone should have a blizzard valentines day once in their lifetime.

Ian's artwork

Here are some of Ian's latest pictures. He started a new website with his favorite pics too in case you're interested. The link is to the left on my blog. Enjoy!

New Job!

Big news here....I just accepted a new/additional nursing job due to my new prn (as needed) status at the hospital. I am tickled about this job and start towards the end of February. I'll be job sharing about 40 hours every two weeks with another girl. My goal is to work at the hospital two days a week and at washington radiology 2 days one week and 3 days the next. It will make me quite a busy girl but it will help us get our debt paid off really fast!
At the radiology center I'll be doing a lot of IV starts and counseling/coordinating breast biopsy treatments as well as test result coordination. This center is almost all digital which is really exciting. They said I won't get to meet a lot of the doctors because they read the ct's and xrays digitally from a remote site. This is quite a change from the archaic hospital as it feels at times, but I am really excited. I also think the stress level will be considerably less and a good balance with the hospital. I'm not ready to leave the hospital yet, but need a little change!
I'll keep you posted how it turns out, but I think it will be a good thing!

'Bitterly Cold'

Just wanted to show all my favorite midwesterners what school is cancelled for out here. The second day most schools had a two hour delay. How ridiculous......but funny at the same time.
