Splish Splash

Part of our memorial day celebration was spent in the pool today, it opened for the weekend and Lucy had a blast! Mom and dad thought it was kind of cold but once you got it was nice. The high today is 92 so it was a good start to cool off with. Hope you have a wonderful memorial day weekend!

Impromptu family photo shoot

I've had some requests for new family pictures so here you go! We spent Ian's 30th birthday at his friend David's wedding. It was a great day and Lucy did so well for an evening wedding. Everyone at the wedding was oogling Lucy. I loved dressing her up in this dress, very fitting for memorial day weekend. It was a dress I wore as a little girl!

Playdates!

Oh how we love playdates! This one was no exception....we spent most of the morning playing outside on the deck at Jack and Ben's house, Lucy LOVES these kids, she totally looks up to Jack and Lyla. They all had fun playing with Jack's water table and eating an impromptu lunch. Baby Ben was so content just watching the big kids, he seems like the most content baby ever! Even though it was about 85 degrees they didn't seem to mind at all. I think Lucy definitely needs a water table at Grandma and Grandpa's house this summer! :)

Friends

Look at these kids! So cute!! Our neighbor's little boy is a month older than Lucy and she totally looks up to him; she loves to watch him run around and I'm sure can't wait to chase him. She loves to give him kisses too! They have been so fun to watch together and this night was no exception.

New shoes!

Mama bought Lucy a new pair of shoes today and she looks like such a little girl in them! Her physical therapist brought some orthotics to try out to see if it would help her stance (she severely pronates like her mom and dad) and they sure do! I'm surprised at how big a difference it made actually. Not sure if it will help her walk any sooner, but it will help align her legs right and develop the right muscles. We will build up her tolerance to them by wearing only an hour or two a day and then wear about half of the day. Now I just feel like the shoe nazi because I don't want to get them dirty since they are so expensive nice! 

15 month check up

Lucy had her check up at the doctor today and she is doing well! Weighing in at 24 lbs and 30.5 inches puts her squarely in the 70th percentile! She was a good girl and let the doctor look in her ears and mouth, while the doctor proclaimed, this age is so hard to examine! I was proud of course. :)

We have been enjoying family hikes for the past couple nights after dinner down by the lake, its been really nice, and a good workout for whoever is wearing Lucy walking up the hills! 

Ian's friend Steve is in town all week with us while they do some filming and Lucy LOVES Steve!

Proof!

See what I mean? I am having to keep a closer eye on Lucy these days because before I know it she is halfway up the stairs! I'm trying to teach her how to come down backwards but she'd rather just sit and play there. She LOVES being a big girl and getting herself up there though, she's so proud of herself when I come over and remark at what she's done, its so cute!

15 months

What have we been up to you ask? See below! :)

Lucy will be 15 months tomorrow and I decided it was high time to get back into gear in the blogging world. Sorry for our absence, we've been busy, well, living! It has been a busy 4 months, here's what Lucy is up to now:

Crawling like a champ
pulling up on everything, including walls
cruising all over the place
crawls up the stairs
learning how to go downstairs too
babbling a lot, says 'da' for pretty much everything but calls her dad 'da' too
Still loves to go for walks in the stroller or Ergo backpack
Eating well, still breastfed 4-6 times/day and at night but will eat ANY food you give her, and that's an understatement
Likes to play the sharing game, she will give you something she's playing with and then take it right back
Just got two molars, for a total of 10 teeth (that I can see, I don't stick my hands in there too often!)
Loves to give kisses and wave 'bye bye'

Because she was a delayed crawler she's been in physical therapy for a few months now and doing SO well, we've also taken her to numerous other therapies to assist in her motor skills and speech. She sees a craniosacral therapist once every other month and a chiropractor as well. All things combined she has started to flourish. She got so frustrated before she could move around and now (most of the time) she is happy as a clam.

We've discovered another food allergy :( this time with hives. I squirted lime juice on an avocado one night and she started rubbing it in her eyes and her hands got hives on them. That was kind of disheartening because I thought we were on our way out of the food allergy journey but I guess not.

We are still on the GAPS diet (no grains or starchy foods) plenty of healthy animal fats, bone broths, probiotics and no processed foods in order to heal her leaky gut/food allergies. I am confident that this diet will change things for the better (its a 2 year protocol) and that someday soon we can introduce Lucy (and mommy for that matter) back to our beloved dairy.

As far as our life, Ian has transitioned to being self employed, so he is home with us every day! It is so nice for Lucy to see her dad throughout the day, we are so proud of him and thankful that this has worked out. On that same note, because he runs his own website, that can be done from essentially anywhere, we will be going to WI for a better part of the summer which we are so excited about!
